Richard Poindexter

Richard Poindexter, born in Washington, D.C., raised in New Port News Virginia where he sang in a group with his brother called The Swans also The Silvermoon Quintet Gospel Group, Lead Vocalist for a band called The Rock-A-Teers-The Gems managed by Mr. Robert Callis (RIP) who brought them to New York where they sang at The Apollo Theatre, got a recording deal with Enjoy Records owned by Bobby Robinson in Harlem. "After graduating from George Washington Carver High School, Richard came back to New York, taught himself to play the piano and co-wrote such hits as "Hypnotized" by Linda Jones, "I'll Be Sweeter Tomorrow" by The O'Jays, co-found and  formed The Persuaders, co-wrote, produced, played piano and sang on "It's A Thin Line Between Love and Hate". Currently Richard is an active member of The Persuaders,  inducted by the late, great Tommy Hill (RIP) in 1999, along with Alexander Brown, David Turner and Tony "Mr. Showtime" Riley.  With the untimely death of Alexander Brown (April 29, 2007), we have added Mr. Evan Wills to our Persuaders Family.
