Featuring Richard Poindexter

DAVID TURNER

David Turner's story is one that is too often told. As a teenager he was bitten by the show biz bug and in 1965 he was introduced to two brothers who recently arrived from Virginia. Robert and Richard Poindexter prolific songwriters who would provide most of the material.  David's group called the Implement's were to become one of the first groups to work with the brothers. Preceding such group as the O'Jays, The Manhattans, The Persuaders and The Escorts. The Implement's recorded a record called "Look Over Your Shoulder" which was covered by The O'Jays and later by The Escorts. They also recorded a record titled "Baby Baby Please" the song later covered by Timothy Wilson. The Implement’s were signed to Mercury Records and later by Warner Brother's Reprise Records. Lacking the business savvy needed to succeed in the music industry the Implement's had to disband in 1972. Years later, (1997) after a failed attempt to secure a solo career David bumped into Richard Poindexter again. They both were later recruited by the late Thomas 'Tommy' Hill into The Persuaders, going full circle. David is presently a viable part of the legacy we call The Persuaders. He along with Richard Poindexter, Alexander Brown, and Tony Riley with God's assistance hope to return The Persuaders to a position of prominence in this crazy world of music.
